WPPI 2009 – Las Vegas

Julie and I just returned from Las Vegas, where we attended the 2009 WPPI  (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) Convention and Trade Show.  I attended last year as well, but it was even better this time around.

I am very excited to report that 3 of the prints I had entered in the 16×20 print competition received Awards of Excellence!  What a thrill! As I walked through the gallery that displayed the accredited prints,  I realized how awesome this really is.  My work was hanging along with that of some of my favourite and most admired photographers.  Seriously.  The prints were judged by the best of the best in the world.  It was an honour to have them look at my work at all, and to critique it.. but to be judged so highly was quite a thrill.

Here are the images of the prints that received awards :

Many thanks to my wonderful clients who continue to inspire me and challenge me and allow me to capture such awesome images.

Ashley & Scott – January 3, 2009

Ok folks.. we have a winner.  There is no need for me to photograph any more weddings because I don’t know if it can get any better than this.  Ashley and Scott had the WOW factor x 10.   It was a perfectly snowy day, and Ashley and Scott were perfectly perfect.  There is so much I could say, but I think I will let the images speak for themselves.

.. of course, I will continue to photograph weddings, but just try to top this one.. I dare ya!

Elyse & Jonathon – December 28, 2008

Elyse and Jonathon really rocked their wedding.  It was another freezing cold day, but we are used to that by now.. and Jonathon is an Ice Engineer by trade, so it was sort of fitting to get some shots at Quidi Vidi, with the water just barely “caught over”.  I love that term!  It’s an old Newfoundland saying, meaning when a body of water forms a thin layer of ice.  I heard it for the first time just last year, and it stuck with me.  Maybe I should be an Ice Engineer??!
